Orville Eugene “Gene” Trego, 83, of rural Richmond, Mo., passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehab Center in Richmond. Gene, as he was commonly known, was born on February 3, 1935 in Cowgill, Mo., to Orville A. Trego and Alpha (Barnett) Trego.
On January 13, 1968 he was united in marriage to Doroth Danise Proctor, she survives him at the home. Gene worked for several years for Kenworth Dart Truck Mfg. Company in Kansas City in quality control. He retired in 1990 after he first became ill. Gene was a member of the RLDS Church. He was also a member of the Morgan Horse Club. He loved to ride horses and care for them. He liked being outdoors as he liked farming and gardening. He was an eager and supportive helper with the local 4-H club. He also loved shooting guns. Gene was a good carpenter and liked to build things. He liked building triangular buildings on his farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Gene is survived by his wife, of 50 years, Danise Trego of the home; sons, Chris Trego and wife, Theresa of Richmond, Mo., and, Loring Trego of Richmond, Mo.; grandchildren, Mackenzie Ritchie, Kimberly Kennedy, and Kendra Foster; and great grandchild, Lilliona Elliott.
Visitation and viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening, March 17, 2018 at the Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick, Mo. Cremation will follow.
