George Scott Clevenger, 61, of Lawson, Mo., formerly of Orrick, passed away Thursday
afternoon, March 1, 2018 at Liberty Hospital.
George Scott Clevenger had many nicknames through his life, but was most commonly known as Scott. He was born on June 7, 1956 in Clay County, Mo., to George Everett Clevenger and Dorothy R. (Michaels) Clevenger. He had lived most of his life in Ray County, Mo. He attended Orrick Schools and was a graduate of Orrick High School with the class of 1974. During his life he had worked for several construction companies and retired from Clarkson Construction Company in Kansas City after working there for several years. He also had been a farmer.
Those that knew Scott would know that he loved to prank his friends for a good laugh. He also loved to tell stories in great detail. He was also known for his big hearty laugh.
Scott loved anything to do with being outside and enjoying nature.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorothy Clevenger.
Scott is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas Clevenger and Katherine of Overland Park, Kans.; two brothers, Mike Clevenger and wife Judy of Portland, Ore., and David Clevenger of Rayville, Mo.; a sister, Kathy Nevins and husband Gary of Jamestown, Mo.; and his special companion and partner, Kay Carver of the home; and his extended family, Cody, Caleb, Austin and Adion.
Visitation and viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick, followed at 8 p.m. with a celebration of life service, also at the funeral home. Scott will be laid to rest next to his parents in a private burial on Thursday at Riffe Cemetery near Orrick, Mo.
