Terri Lee (Joiner) Honn

Terri Lee (Joiner) Honn, 59, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the home. Terri was born on November 20, 1958 in Kansas City, Mo., to Elmer Lee Joiner, Jr. and Mary Jane (Patton) Joiner. She was a lifelong resident of Kansas City. Terri attended Ruskin High School and graduated with the class of 1976. She studied nursing at Evangel University in Springfield, Mo. She worked for several years as a banker for the Ameristar Casino in Kansas City before she retired due to a disability.

Terri found entertainment through reading books and novels and watching movies. She also loved to play Bingo. Terri loved to shop and browse at garage sales and thrift stores. She loved her children and the time she spent with them and her family. Terri never gave up hope that someday she would be able to see and be reunited with her four grandchildren. She always had kind words for her friends and most people she came in contact with.

Terri was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Lee Joiner, Jr. on April 7, 2008 and her mother, Mary Jane Joiner on July 2, 2009.

She is survived by her son, Joshua L. Honn of Kansas City, Mo.; her daughter, Rachel E. Honn and her signifiant other, Todd Mountjoy of Kansas City, Mo.; brothers, Paul Tipton and wife, Joyce of Richland, N.C., and Harry Tipton and wife, Tami of Raymore, Mo.; and sister, Vickie Wright and significant other, Larry Thompson of Orrick, Mo. She is also survived by several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins, and her pet cat, Merlin.

One of her favorite quotes was, “Always be as kind to yourself as you are to others”.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick, Mo., with Pastor Ed Bell of Blue Springs officiating. Terri will be laid to rest next to her parents at South Point Cemetery, Orrick, Mo.
