August 10, 1937 – September 25, 2009

Arnold Leroy Schreier, 72, of Richmond, Mo., passed away Friday, September 25, 2009 at the North Kansas City Hospital.

Arnold was born in Corder, Mo., on August 10, 1937 to Leroy and Roselie (Eaton) Schreier. He was a lifelong area resident.

Arnold was united in marriage to Martha Mallot on August 4, 1962 in a ceremony in Kansas City, Mo.

He had served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Arnold had worked for various construction companies in the Kansas City area as a laborer. He retired in 1992.

He was a member of Laborers Union Local # 663 in Kansas City and was a member of American Legion Post # 2010 in Richmond.

Arnold liked to play pool and he played in pool tournaments. He also liked to fish, collect coins and was a World War II history buff. He was very proud of his families part in American history. His uncle, Lt. Col. Harold George Schreier gave the order to raise the flag on Iwo Jima. Arnold’s pastimes were reading books by Louis Lamar and spending time with his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ora Edward Schreier, a sister, LaDonna Gay Key, and a daughter, Sherry Deann Schreier.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Martha Schreier, of the home; four sons, Terry Lee Schreier, Gerry Schreier, David Schreier and Arnie Schreier; five daughters, Martha Ward, Patricia Lee, Carol Hickman, Twila Barlow and Barbara Arnold; and two brothers, Philip Morris Schreier, of Independence, Mo., and Billy Gene Schreier, of Durant, Okla. He is also survived by 32 grandchhildren, 37 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Gravesides services with full military honors will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 30 at the Craven Cemetery near Camden, Mo.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, September 29 at the Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick, Mo.
