Donald Ray Holt, 66, of rural Richmond, Mo., passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the North Kansas City Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Donald was better know as Ray, was born on April 23, 1951 in Orrick, Mo., to Raymond H. Holt and Loretta Marie (Knutter) Holt. Ray was united in marriage to Mary Ann Stapleton of Orrick on October 25, 1969. He had worked as a mechanic for the city of Kansas City, Mo. in water treatment and pollution control for over 32 years and retired in 2001.
Ray returned to Orrick and the family farm in 1986. He loved tending to his cows, haying the fields and gardening. He enjoyed riding side by side with his dog. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, both sets of grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his wife of over 30 years, Mary Ann Holt of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Stacey Carter and husband, Larry, of Dearborn, Mo.; a son and daughter-in-law, Jason Holt and wife, Kelly of Kansas City, Mo.; uncles, Leroy Knutter and wife, Pat, of Warsaw, Mo.; and Tom Knutter and wife, Ruth, of Kansas City, Mo.; his grandchildren, Matthew Carter, Silas Carter, Preston Robinson and Grace Porter; and great granddaughter, Rayvn Carter. He is also survived by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
The family will greet friends Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Gowing Funeral Home. Cremation with services to be announced at a later date.
