Wilma Jean “Jeannie” Light of rural Orrick, Mo., passed away Friday, December 28, 2018. She was born on January 15, 1938 in Manes, Mo.
Jeannie was married to the love of her life on July 20, 1956, Kenneth Randall Light, in a ceremony at Hartville, Mo. They moved to Orrick in 1969. Jeannie was a housewife and mother and known by her family as the best cook ever. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and coloring in her color books, to tend flowers in her gardens and watching Hallmark movies and the Food Network. She loved to travel with her husband and she especially loved spending time with her great granddaughter, Brooke. She was a member of the Orrick First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Light and Ruth Mae (Oliphant) Light, her husband, Kenneth Randall Light, and two daughters, Candye and Sandra Light.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and John Culler of Kansas City, Kans., and a special sister, Anna Jennings of Orrick, Mo.; grandchildren, Christa Teegarden of Orrick, Mo., Joshua Teegarden and wife, Danielle of Kansas City, Mo., and Kurt Culler of Morganfield, Ky.; great granddaughter, Brooke Phillips of Orrick, Mo.; and her grand fur babies, Riley, Maverick, Jack, Cotton and Dexter.
Visitation will be at the Orrick First Baptist Church from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. Burial will be at South Point Cemetery near Orrick.
