William Daniel Floyd, 79, of rural Orrick, Mo., passed away March 13, 2024 at Oak Pointe in Kearney, Mo., following a battle with Parkinson’s Disease. William was born on December 10, 1944 in Lowell, Mass., to Lucius Harding Floyd and Florence (Chatterton) Floyd. William served his county with the United States Navy during the Vietnam war as an E5, EOD and UDT, 2nd Class Diver, all of which he was honorably discharged from. William was a member of the Polo American Legion.
On October 10, 1965, William was united in marriage to Frances Jean Karnes. They made their home and raised their sons northeast of Orrick. William worked as a truck driver for ABS Trucking Company in Kansas City for several years and retired from his duties there in 2004. William enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding motorcycles. He also loved scuba diving.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Lucius and Florence Floyd; and three brothers, John Floyd, Tim Floyd, and Robert Floyd.
William is survived by his wife, Jean Floyd of the home near Orrick; son, Dan Floyd of Orrick, Mo.; and son and daughter-in-law, Heath and Mandy Floyd of Orrick, Mo. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Liam Floyd, Lily Floyd, Gretta Floyd, Tatum Floyd and Parker Floyd.
Memorial Services with Military Honors and inurnment will be Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at South Point Cemetery near Orrick. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to Tunnel to Towers in William’s memory.
