Roberta Dianne Patton

Roberta Dianne Patton, 76, of Independence, Mo., passed away Wednesday morning, November 28, 2018 at Center Point Medical Center in Independence. Roberta was commonly know by family and friends as Bobbie. She was born on January 30, 1942 in Trenton, Mo., to Rex Hamilton and Irene (Brittian) Hamilton. Bobbie spent her childhood in the Trenton area and attended schools in Trenton.

On March 17, 1961, she was united in marriage to Melvin Patton. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2015. Bobbie and Melvin had lived in Kansas City for a number of years before moving to Sebastian, Fla. Following the death of her husband, Bobbie moved back to Missouri in 2015, making her home in Independence.

Bobbie had worked for many different employers. Her latest job was as a crew leader for Duncan Donuts in Sebastian, Fla. Her happiest moments were when she was with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin Patton on February 16, 2015; a son, Paul Baker on June 28, 2004; brothers, David Hamilton and Jerry Hamilton; and her step mother, Jean Hamilton.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Melvin Patton, Jr. and Kimberly of Independence, Mo.; and brothers, John Hamilton, Junior Hamilton and wife, Denise, and James Hamilton and wife, Sharon. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 12 Noon Monday, December 3, 2018 at Hamilton Cemetery near Modena, Mo.
