Robert Edward Smith, 61, of Orrick, MO, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020 at his home in Orrick surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was born on April 25, 1959 in Cameron, MO, to Jackie J. Smith and Carrie L. (Christofferson) Smith.  He attended school in Orrick and graduated from Orrick High School. Robert had lived most of his life in Orrick and the Ray County area.

He was united in marriage to Melba J. Johnson on May 13, 2009 in a ceremony in Richmond, MO.

Robert worked as a Quality Control operator at American Wilcon Plastics in Orrick for 15 years and retired in December 2019 due to his health.

Those that knew Robert knew he was a great prankster and loved to play pranks on his friends and family. He also liked telling jokes, and was just an all around fun person to be around. He liked fishing and he often liked to drive around the back roads in the county and enjoy the countryside. A special fondness he had was spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandson.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Jackie and Carrie Smith.

Robert is survived by his wife, Melba J. Smith of the home in Orrick; his son,  Joseph Smith and wife, Elizabeth of Richmond, MO; his daughters, Bridget Hussing of Kansas City, MO, and Jenny Meierer and husband, Nathan of Lexington, MO; brothers, Jackie Smith, Donnie Smith and Charlie Smith; and sisters, Doris Smith and Becky Stiffarm. He is also survived by his nine loving grandchildren and one great grandson and another one on the way.

Robert is to be cremated per his wishes.

A private gathering for the family to remember Robert will be held on Friday, November 27, 2020.
