Raymond Lee “Romeo” Coleman

February 1934 – August 2015

Raymond Lee “Romeo” Coleman, 81, of Excelsior Springs, formerly of Orrick, passed away early Monday morning, August 17, 2015 at the Excelsior Springs Nursing and Rehab Center.

Raymond was born on February 23, 1934 in Orrick, Mo., to Virgil and Emma (Swiggert) Coleman. He had lived most of his life in the Orrick community. He left Orrick and moved to Excelsior Springs following the great flood of 1993. Raymond had worked as a truck driver for the Orrick Dehydrating Co. for many years. He loved sports and was a follower and fan of the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs. Before his health failed, Romeo was in attendance at the Orrick Bearcats football games and was a big fan of the team.

In 2011, Raymond was united in marriage to Martha Lewellen in Excelsior Springs. Martha preceded him in death in 2013.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Cecil “Red” O’Conner and Lonnie O’Conner, a sister, Ruby Fern “Coleman” Lee in March of 2012, and a niece, Patricia “Coleman” Gardner.

He is survived by a sister, Dorothy Wilson of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

At his request, Raymond has been cremated. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
