Nellie Jewell Hall, 91, of Liberty, Mo., passed away at 1:17 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2019 at the Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Center in Pleasant Valley, Mo. Nellie was born on July 21, 1927 in Banco, West Virginia, to Monroe Barker and Sarah (Williams) Barker.
Nellie was raised and schooled in West Virginia. Following her graduation from high school, Nellie was united in marriage to Thomas Hall. Nellie and Thomas had lived in several places during their marriage. Nellie moved to Missouri in 2011, following the death of her husband. She resided in Liberty with a niece, Nellie McClellan, until she moved into the nursing home less than a year ago.
Nellie loved to help her husband and brother build homes, which she would get right in and work with them. She liked hunting, fishing and camping out. She never had any children of her own, but always said her many nieces and nephews were her children, and she loved them all. She was a woman of the Pentecost faith. Nellie had coined
a phrase when she was ill that was “I Win Either Way”, if I live, I get to be with my loved ones, if I die, I get to be with God.
Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas Hall, four sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by her many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. with funeral services following at 3:00 p.m. at the Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick, Mo. Burial will be in South Point Cemetery near Orrick.
Memorials are suggested to the Nellie Hall Monument fund, payable to Nellie McClellan.
