Mary Lee Proffitt, 91 of Richmond, Mo., passed away at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Shirkey Rehab and Nursing Center in Richmond, Mo.
Mary Lee was born near Camden, Mo., on February 15, 1920 to James Berry MacDonald and Betty Euginia (Neer) MacDonald. She lived her entire life in Ray County. Mary Lee was united in marriage to Milton Newell Proffitt on May 11, 1940 in Ray County. She was a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a member of the Friendship Christian Church in rural Richmond until it disbanded and then attended the Orrick Christian Church.
Mary Lee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Milton Newell Proffitt on November 7, 1986 a brother, Eugene MacDonald, and a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Proffitt in 2001.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mac Proffitt and wife, Mary, of Camden, Mo., and Jim Proffitt and wife, Dona, of Richmond, Mo. Her grandchildren, Brian Proffitt and wife, Marlo, Lindsey Proffitt, Jill Pyles and husband, Troy, Jamie Sue Honeycutt and husband, Don, and Jolynn Ernst and husband, Noll; and five great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2011 at the Orrick Christian Church with Pastor Donna Murphy-Ceradsky officiating. Burial will be in South Point Cemetery near Orrick.
