Mary Evelyn Lillard, 89, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Orrick, died Monday, March 12, 2012 at the John Knox Village Care Center in Lee’s Summit, Mo.
Mary was born on June 27, 1922 in Orrick, Mo., to James Wesley Lillard and Anna May Andrews. She was raised in Orrick and attended schools there and was a graduate of Orrick High School. Mary spent most of her life in Kansas City.
She was first employed as a secretary for Mobil Oil in Kansas City for a number of years and then later worked as a Claims Accountant for Research Medical Center in Kansas City for 30 years. She retired from her duties at Research in November of 1987.
She was a member of the Orrick Assembly of God Church.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Hortense, Juanita, Kay, Leona, and Wesley.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry G. Lillard and wife, Pat, of Hutchinson, Kans.; a sister, Laura Vincent of Camdenton, Mo.; grandsons, Chris Aaron Lillard and Troy Dean Lillard, both of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Dustin Wayne Lillard of Irvine, Calif.; granddaughter, Brandy Jane Kent of Hutchinson, Kans.; eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 15 at South Point Cemetery near Orrick. Memorials suggested to John Knox Village Care Center in Lee’s Summit, Mo.
