Marilyn Louise (Burnett) Fennewald, 69, of Orrick, Mo., passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at her home in Orrick. Marilyn was born in Orrick on November 2, 1948 to Jewell True Burnett and Neva Mae (Blacketer) Burnett.
Marilyn had lived the majority of her life in Orrick. She attended schools in Orrick and graduated from Orrick High School with the class of 1966. She was the drum majorette for the Orrick High School Band back during her school days and she was remembered for her top skills leading the marching band. Marilyn loved to dance and was often involved with dance contest in the area and usually taking top honors when she entered competition. She was especially good at doing the twist and many of the popular songs and dances in the early to mid 1960’s. She was also a very skilled roller skater. She was a big Elvis fan. She liked NASCAR racing and attending the car races at the State Fair. Marilyn worked at CMSU in Warrensburg as a custodian from 1994 until 2004, prior, she was a custodian and cook for the Orrick Public Schools. Earlier, she had worked at American Wilcon Plastics in Orrick. Marilyn moved from Orrick in 1994 to Warrensburg and returned to Orrick in 2015, where she remained until her death. She was a member of Orrick Baptist Church.
Marilyn was united in marriage to Charlie Fennewald, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and several siblings.
Survivors include her children, James Alan Duncan and wife, Amber, of Independence, Mo., John True Duncan and Charles Keith Fennewald of Orrick, Mo., Christina Louise McCormack and husband, David, of Warrensburg, Mo.; sisters, Shirley Ross of Orrick, Mo., and Virginia Funk of Gladstone, Mo.; and a brother, Richard Frye of Excelsior Springs, Mo. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Katelyn Louise McCormack and Alexander Dean McCormack. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her.
The family will greet friends Saturday morning, June 23, 2018 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick. Memorial services will follow at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Mr. Bryan Thompson officiating. Inurnment will follow in South Point Cemetery near Orrick.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to help with funeral expenses.
