Lila Ann Thompson

Lila Ann Thompson, 70, of rural Orrick, Mo., died Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the North Kansas City Hospital. Lila was born in Kansas City, Mo., on November 26, 1947 to John David Stagner and Edith Mae (Prudden) Stagner. She had lived most of her life in the Orrick community. Lila attended elementary school at the old Wallace School and later the Elkhorn school. She attended high school in Orrick and graduated with the class of 1966.

Following high school she worked for Parker McCory Corp in Kansas City and Tower Loan Company in Excelsior Springs, Mo. She also had worked at Whitaker Cable Corp in Excelsior Springs and American Wilcon Plastics in Orrick. She also had been a homemaker.

Lila was a member of the Orrick Baptist Church. She liked to quilt and spend time with her kids and grandchildren, gardening and going out to eat, especially El Sombrero’s in Claycomo. She also liked to go on camping trips.

She was preceded in death by her father, John David Stagner in 1979, two half brothers, Joseph Stagner and William Stagner, a half sister, Mary Louise Sidwell, and a nephew, David Allen Stagner in 2017.

Lila is survived by her son, Bryan Ray Thompson and his fiance, Debbie Chaney, of Liberty, Mo.; her daughter, Heather Ann Hurshman of Orrick, Mo.; her mother, Edita Stagner of Lawson, Mo.; a brother, Alva Taylor Stagner and Diane of Orrick, Mo.; four grandchildren, Dalton Holloway and Kylee of Blue Springs, Mo., Nicholas Jasper Thompson of Liberty, Mo., Chelsea Hurshman and Courtney Hurshman of Orrick, Mo.; great grandchildren, Kaden Holloway, Clayton Holloway and Emmalynn Leabo; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick. Funeral services will be Friday, May 18, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick. Burial will be at the North New Garden Cemetery near Excelsior Springs, Mo.
