Leo Jackson “Jack” Ryan, 76 of Orrick, Mo., passed away on May 31, 2021 at his home with his loving family surrounding him.
Known as Jack by his family and friends, Jack was born on May 30, 1945 in Coffeeville, Kans., to Leo J. Ryan and JoAnn (Smoley) Ryan. Jack moved to the Orrick area in 1963. He attended school at Orrick and graduated from Orrick High School with the class of 1965. On August 26, 1966, Jack was united in marriage to Lana Lynn Greer in a ceremony at The Orrick Baptist Church. Following their marriage, Jack and Lana made their home in Orrick.
Jack worked as a maintenance engineer for Gilmour/Bosch Corp. in Excelsior Springs and retired from there in 2012 after 48 years of service.
Jack liked hunting, fishing, and camping, gardening, raising chickens and rabbits. He loved sports, and he liked being in the press box at all of Orrick High School’s home games helping to cheer on the Bearcats. He especially loved the time spent with his family, especially the grandkids.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Melvin, Danny and Johnny; and a special Uncle and Aunt, Jay and Beverly Blair.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 55 years, Lana Ryan of the home; daughters, Raniesa Sherrill and husband, Paul of Orrick, and Shawn Wright and husband, Scott of Independence, Mo.; a sister, Lova Whorton and husband, Tommy of Orrick, Mo.; a halfsister, Jodi Bustos and husband, Billy of Albuquerque, N.M; grandchildren, Rachel Brown, Cerin Oliphant, Kasara Arnold, McKenna Wright, Kincayde and Keit Sherrill. Also surviving are 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening, June 3, 2021 at Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick, Mo.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Orrick Baptist Church, with Mr. Michael Hartwick and Rev. Jacob Overstreet officiating. Burial will follow in South Point Cemetery near Orrick.
Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to Orrick Baptist Church in his memory.
