Katie Anglene Shrout, 70, of rural Rayville, MO, passed away on Monday morning, May 17, 2021 at her home. Katie was born on November 27, 1950 in Kansas City, MO, to Eugene Chester Brown and Golda Mae (Green) Brown. On February 23, 1966, Katie was united in marriage to Bobby Shrout in a ceremony performed in Avondale, MO. Bob and Katie moved to the Rayville area in 1988, where they enjoyed their small acreage and country living.
Katie had many things she loved in life, her first and most important thing is that she loved the Lord and his creations. She loved the birds that visited her property and her flowers and flower beds that she created and attended to. She had a special fondness of the swimming pool and the memories of fun times with the family swimming and playing in it. She also loved to travel. Katie loved the fall of the year. She also loved family gatherings and spending time with her family.
Katie had worked at the Walmart Store in Excelsior Springs for many years before she retired.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Dwight; and a sister, Julie; and an infant sibling.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Bob Shrout, of the home in Rayville, MO; four sons, Kalen Shrout and Doug Shrout, both of Rayville, MO, Scott Shrout of Gladstone, MO, and Brian Shrout of Eldorado Springs, MO; a daughter, Dana Thomas and husband, Jeremy of Wood Heights, MO. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday, also at the funeral home, with the Reverend Dana Taylor officiating. Burial will be in South Point Cemetery near Orrick, MO.
