John Roy Kennedy

1937 – 2016

John Roy Kennedy, 78 of Richmond, Mo., passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at The Golden Living Nursing Home in Independence, Mo.

John was born on December 9, 1937 in Orrick, Mo., to Daisy Mae (Callaway) Kennedy and Bennie John Kennedy. He attended high school in Excelsior Springs, Mo. John had lived in Excelsior Springs and Orrick before moving to Camdenton, Mo. He returned to Richmond in 2014. John had worked for the Ford Motor Company in Claycomo for 32 years and retired from his duties there in the spring of 1992. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of ADA Lodge # 444 in Orrick and was a 32nd degree mason. He was also a member of the Aarat Shrine.

He was married first to Mary Sue Barger and later to Pearl Marie George of Iowa. Both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Daisy Kennedy, a brother, Donald Kennedy, and an infant brother who died shortly after birth.

John is survived by a daughter, Joni Gay Loxterman of Hamilton, Mo., a step daughter, Kim Edwards of Camdenton, Mo., sisters, Judith Kathleen Claire and Wanda Jean Roe both of Richmond, Mo., one granddaughter, one step grandson and four step great grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Masonic services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July, 1, 2016 at Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick, followed by visitation at 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. at the Gowing Chapel in Orrick with burial following in Richmond Memory Gardens in Richmond, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Alzheimers Association or to ADA Lodge #444 in Orrick.
