James Harvey Collins, 79 of rural Orrick, Mo., died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at his home northwest of Orrick. He was born on January 13, 1932 in Newton County, Ark., to Thomas Jefferson Collins and Mildred May (Smith) Collins. James lived in the Orrick community for over 20 years. He was a supervisor for the former K & G Sales Warehouse in Kansas City, Mo., before he retired from his duties in 1985.
He was an avid coon hunter and loved playing the guitar. He had a passion for music.
James was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Eugene and a sister, Jolene.
Survivors include his son, W.P. Collins and ( Rosemary) of Orrick, Mo., a sister, Goldie Farmer of Elm Springs, Ark., grandsons, Anthony Collins and (Cindy Harden) of Independence, Mo., and Randy Kent and (Juanita) of Mt. Judea, Ark., and granddaughter, Sara Ryan and (Peter) of Greenfield, Mass., and his canine companion Cheyenne. There will be no local services.
Mr. Collins will be cremated with memorial services and inurnment at a later date in Smith Cemetery in Vender, Ark.
