February 25, 1941 – October 27, 2021
Gilbert, who went by Roger, was born February 25, 1941, to Gilbert and Ruth (Otstott) Arnold in Larned, Kans. The family later moved to Ness City, Kans., to tend the farm, in which Roger played a major role being the only son. He attended Ness City Schools where he graduated in 1959 and began to further his education at Emporia State College until he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1953. During his time as a sailor, he served as control room radarman aboard the U.S.S. St. Paul in the Vietnam War.
Roger married Catherine “Kay” Hoover on July 11, 1965. In their 56 years of marriage, they settled in the Kansas City area to raise two children and eventually spoil two grandchildren. Roger started his professional career as vice president at Kansas City Nut, Bolt, and Screw and would later establish Mid-America Multi Fasteners in North Kansas City. He finished his career with Issco in 2016. His joy came from the time spent with his family and his perfectly manicured lawn. He was loved my many and will be greatly missed.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Ruth Arnold; and sisters, Eleanor Lee and Joan Tiemann.
Roger is survived by his wife, Catherine “Kay” Arnold; children, Greg Arnold and D’Lisa Polly (Doug Winters); sister, Ellen Arnold; grandchildren, Shayna (Polly) McAnally (Shane) and Cote’ Polly.
At Roger’s request, there will be no services held.
