Dolores Jean Gryder, 79, of Orrick, Mo., went to be with the Lord Saturday, October 31, 2009 at her home.
Dolores was born on May 23, 1930 in the Floyd community of rural Orrick, Mo., to Golden and Mildred (Norris) Sisk. She had lived most of her life in the Orrick community. She graduated from Orrick High School in 1949. Dolores was united in marriage to Benny Gryder on June 2, 1951. In her earlier years, Dolores had been a secretary for the Ray County Agriculture Extension Office and a secretary for the Columbia, South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. She also was a homemaker. Dolores was a devoted wife and mother and a loving grandmother. She was a special loving and faithful daughter to her elderly mother. Dolores loved to play bridge and she liked to do oil painting. She was a member of the Orrick Christian Church and was a member of the Kings Daughters Class at the church.
Preceding her in death were her father, Golden Sisk, her step-father, Sidney Brazeal, and a sister, Beverly Ann Johnson.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Benny Gryder, of the home; her 102 year old mother, Mildred Sisk Brazeal, of Richmond, Mo.; a son, Ron Gryder, of Richmond, Mo., and a daughter, Nancy Masciovecchio, of Liberty, Mo.; her loving grandchildren, Brett Gryder, Joe, Anthony and Amber Masciovecchio.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at the Orrick Christian Church, with Pastor Steve Koberlein, Rev Robert Hutchison and Pastor Donna Murphy-Ceradsky officiating. Burial in South Point Cemetery near Orrick.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick.
Memorials in her memory may be given to the Orrick Christian Church.
