Dennis Lee Cook

Dennis Lee Cook, 64, of Orrick, MO, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Dennis was born on December 23, 1956 in Excelsior Springs, MO, to James Monroe Cook and Mary Jane Jeffries Cook. Dennis was a lifelong resident of the Orrick area and was a graduate of Orrick High School with the class of 1975. On July 4, 1994, Dennis was united in marriage to Leisa J. McAfee of Orrick. He owned his own trucking company and hauled rock for various rock companies.

Dennis liked to work in his shop. He liked to tinker with cars and trucks but he also could tackle the big tough mechanical task of working on them. He also liked and enjoyed operating heavy equipment and big trucks. He also like to keep his truck clean and would often be seen washing it. He was a man that made friends easy and he enjoyed being with friends and having a good time. Dennis liked being ornery and mischievous, and liked to play pranks on his friends. Dennis also loved his dogs and took in several and gave them a loving home over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Jane Cook, and a nephew, Gary Tyler Vaughn.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 27 years, Leisa J. Cook of the home; son, Shane Cook of Orrick, MO; and daughter, Kelly White (Teddy) of Richmond, MO; brothers, Larry Cook (Kathy) of Orrick, MO, and Paul Cook (Terry) of Excelsior Springs, MO; sisters, Carolyn Cook of Orrick, MO, Tammy Johnson (Preston) of Excelsior Springs, MO, and Kay Vaughn (Gary) of Orrick, MO. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Austin Pettiecord and Gavin White of Richmond, MO, and Aerin Cook of Orrick, MO, and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m., also at the funeral home, with Mr. Jeremy Greer officiating. Burial will follow in South Point Cemetery near Orrick.

Memorials are suggested to either Reno Ranch Pet Rescue or Ray County Humane Society.
