David Henry Schjoll, 78, of Orrick, Mo., passed away early Wednesday morning, June 17, 2020 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, Mo., following a lengthy illness.
David was born on January 7, 1942 in Minneapolis, Minn., to Derwood Horace Schjoll and Elaine Juliet (Jardet) Schjoll. David had lived in numerous states before moving to the Orrick area in 1984. He had served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict and was honorably discharged on March 30, 1967. He was united in marriage on December 18, 1976 to Diana Christina Smith, who survives him. David had worked for Ford Motor Company for 30 years and retired in 1997.
Some of David’s favorite things to do were drinking beer, Barbeque grilling, fishing, hunting and anything to do in the great outdoors.
David was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Denise Schjoll; and two brothers, Mike Schjoll and Wayne Schjoll.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Diana Schjoll of the home in Orrick; his daughters, Lori Schulze and husband, Greg of Indianapolis, Ind., and Virginia Foote of Richmond, Mo.; his son, David Schjoll, Jr. of Indianapolis, Ind.; brothers, Richard Schjoll of Madras, Oreg., and Art Schjoll of Pineville, Oreg.; a sister, Sharon Newberg of Fairfield, Conn.; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday morning, June 25, 2020 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., followed by Memorial services at 10:30 a.m. at Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick, Mo.
Inurnment with military honors will follow at South Point Cemetery near Orrick, Mo.
