Anna Mae Jennings

Anna Mae Jennings of Orrick, MO, was 86 years young when she passed of natural causes on May 6, 2022 at home in Orrick surrounded by family and loved ones. Anna was born on April 13, 1936 to Allen Oliphant and Goldie (Dodson) Oliphant in Manes, Missouri.

Anna attended school in Mountain Grove, MO, where she played on an all-boys baseball team as a first basemen from 1952-1954, breaking the glass ceiling before there was one! Shortly after graduating she married the love of her life, Navy Serviceman Wayne LaVon Jennings, on May 7, 1955 in Albion, Michigan. In 1968, they moved from Kansas City to Orrick. Together, they had six children, twins Patricia and Shirley who were prematurely lost, Larry Wayne (Suzy) Jennings, Connie Sue Jennings Crump, Sonja Renee Jennings Robinson, and Troy LaVon (Jennifer) Jennings.

Anna was such a loving housewife and mother. Outside her home, she worked at Lee-Wald as seamstress in Kansas City, MO, and at Whitaker Cable in Excelsior Springs, MO, where she was involved in the Union. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and the First Baptist Church of Orrick much of her life. She loved to quilt, garden, cook, and spend time with her family!

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; three children, Patricia, Shirley, and Connie; her mother and father; seven brothers; two sisters; one son-in-law and one great grandchild.

Anna is survived by her children, Larry (Suzy), Sonja, and Troy (Jennifer); and her grandchildren, Scott Travis (Shawn) Wright, Allison Renee (Dave) Alfano, Brandon Wayne Jennings, Shanda LeAnn (Chris) Watson, Annthia Marie (Reggie) Teagues, Vickie Sue Thompson, Joseph Aaron (Kristen) Kaufman, Christopher Joseph Bukaty Jr., Jacob LaVon Jennings (Jessica Edmiston), and Karly Sophia Jennings; as well as 13 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren! She was, is, and always will be so loved by these and many others.
