Beth Ann Backeus, 39, of Independence, Mo., passed away August 21, 2018 at her home.
Beth was born on May 23, 1979 in Kansas City, Mo., to Steven Whitt and Kathy Jo (Keys) Whitt. Beth has lived all her life in Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Jackson County, Mo., and most recently lived in Independence. Beth completed high school in 1998 and furthered her education and received a degree in Business administration and bookkeeping. She currently was working as a bookkeeper for a medical supply company in Kansas City, a position she had held for the past two years. Prior, she had been a licensed insurance agent for Shelter Insurance in Overland Park, Kans.
Beth loved spending time with her kids and family. She especially loved to watch her kids play soccer and was happy to support them in their sports and activities. Beth also loved to work on rehab projects, fixing up old houses and restoring them. She also liked to swim.
Beth is survived by her mother, Kathy Jo Keys-Sanders of Independence, Mo.; her father, Steven Hogan Whitt of Branson, Mo.; children, Trey Alexander Backeus of Independence, Mo., Tyler Allen Backeus of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Ella Jae Farina of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; and sister, Tabatha Marie Dinger of Lee’s Summit, Mo. Also surviving are two nephews, six aunts and three uncles and a multitude of cousins.
Memorial services for Beth will be Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 7 p.m. at The Gathering Baptist Church, 4505 South Noland Road, Independence, Mo., with the Rev. Francis O’Donnelly officiating.
The family will greet friends at the church following the memorial service.
